YES/SEND

I am so over the frigging morons that I work with that I really do not want to go in today. You see, the job that I've been doing the past couple of months is so rad but it's starting to take its toll on me. Part of it is to design and develop databases and then train people on how to use them.

I have one database that houses all employee information. When an employee is termed, their supervisor is supposed to go in and fill out a form that will generate emails to go out about the term (IT needs their login, the phone people need their extension, payroll needs the term date, the rest of us need the reason). All the sup has to do is fill out the info, press submit, and click "Yes" or "Send" (depending on their version of windows) several times to send the emails.

I thought I had made this idiot-proof by sending an email including print screens and instructions for carrying this out. Furthermore, I sat down with some of the least intelligent sups and explained it. But, no go, there were people that still clicked "No" or "Don't Send".

Hmmph, well, then I had a their manager send an email that said that under NO circumstances should they ever hit "No" or "Don't Send", the only thing they should ever hit is "Yes" or "Send".

TIME FOR A QUIZ, KIDS:
A box pops up in the term database saying, "Outlook is trying to send an email on your behalf, would you like to continue?
YES/SEND NO/DON'T SEND

What do you do?

Well, if you're a sup at my company, you hit "NO/DON'T SEND" naturally.

So, Tuesday, I went in and programmed a warning box to pop up before any email notifications, it says something to the effect of, "Hey dumbass, press "Yes" or "Send" to the following questions or you will not send any emails.

Did that work? NO, of course not! GRRRRRRRR! Any suggestions as to how to deal with the this kind of shit?

Give everyone stickys to put on their monitor...when they do it wrong point the the sticky and say "so really, what's your excuse?"

Just kidding. I've had retarded users as well. Normally I just accept the fact that I'm destined to work with stupid people. That way when I meet someone halfway intelligent, it totally makes my day.

Beth-good plan, but I'd have to get rid of almost everyone! Still going camping this weekend?

Jade-LOL, isn't it sad that we have to get excited about meeting someone that's competent? I don't know about your company, but at mine, you have to pass a test to even get hired on. How do these people pass?!

You know, I could say the same about half the people that get degrees these days :)

take the warning out of the program or outlook so they dont have to acknowledge that they are sending the email.

This is just ro reiterate what I mentioned to you the other day, in case you forgot... you should give them a huge block of text to read and add a timer so if they hit "OK" before the timer is up, then you tell them there's no way they read all that and to try again. Or something along those lines.
